Lesson 17
Η προσφορά στην Αίγυπτο...
The offer to Egypt...
Hierodeacon Nektarios returns to Alexandria on the 23rd of March in 1886, with his Bachelor of Theology, the Patriarch of Alexandria, Sophronios, ordains him as a presbyter and then in August he is ordained as an Archimandrite.

However, he always remains a humble and simple monk who prays for everyone, who raises his hands up to the sky and does not put them down until he brings Christ "down" to earth, who celebrates with Saints, who chants along with angels, who preaches, as a hiero-preacher.
Bishop Nektarios' life acquires meaning only when he is near God. He fully devotes himself to serving his brothers and communicating with Christ.
People had never seen a Bishop talking, acting, running, helping like an authentic subordinate, a true Christian before.
Wise Nektarios knows best the words of his Christ: "God blesses those people who are humble. The earth will belong to them".
That's where he wants to be, and if it's possible he'll try to save all Christians by holding their hands. That's why he preaches unstoppably, so that everyone will meet sweet Christ.

He doesn't keep anything for himself. The virtues of his soul make him shine like a lighthouse of Orthodoxy, which enlightens all of Egypt's Christians. This light has no connection with anything materialistic. Money turns light into darkness. Only when money is offered to people who need it, is it turned back into a beam of light.
This enlightened Bishop is generous, gives money to the poor, to those who are in pain, to those who are in dire straits. He never keeps anything for himself.
