Lesson 24
Το γνωρίζατε;
Did you know?

In the small room of Saint Nektarios at the Monastery in Aegina, you can see and read the papyrus with the apology that the Patriarchate of Alexandria sent seventy-five years after his death. However, Saint Nektarios had already forgiven them from the beginning because his soul could adorn slander with love, prayer and patience.
On April 20, in 1961, the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople proclaimed Saint Nektarios to be a saint.
His memory is celebrated on November 9 and the translation of his Holy Relics is on the 3rd of September.

Let's have a little of vocabulary...
Apology = απολογία ( > apologize = απολογούμαι)
Forgiven συγχώρεσε ( > forgive = συγχωρώ)
Adorn = στολίζω με
Slander = συκοφαντία (slander = συκοφαντώ)
